MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) should be the one to detain dismissed Bamban mayor Alice Guo (real name: Guo Hua Ping) once her pending cases have been resolved, according to Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla.
In a press briefing, Remulla was asked whether authorities have any uncertainty on Guo’s supposed detention location, knowing her nationality has been put in question.

He replied, “To be fair, actually, kung mayroon talagang dapat magde-detain kay Alice Guo, it should be the Bureau of Immigration, kasi ano yan eh, an immigration case takes precedence over anything.”
(To be fair, if anyone should really detain Alice Guo, it should be the Bureau of Immigration since immigration cases take precedence over anything else.)
“Kaya ang tingin ko, when everything clears up already, it will have to be with immigration. And immigration will just have to seek out permission to bring her to court every time,” Remulla added.
(That’s why I believe that once everything is settled, the matter will fall under immigration. They’ll just have to request permission to bring her to court each time.)
Remulla cited the use of a fake passport and presenting herself as Filipino as possible violations committed by Guo.
“It’s really an immigration matter; of course the criminal aspect will be there that some people in the DFA [Department of Foreign Affairs] were in cahoots with the syndicate that issued their passport,” he said.

Remulla added that Guo may face a deportation case; however, that remains unclear as of the moment.
Guo is currently detained at the Philippine National Police custodial center in Camp Crame.
Senator Risa Hontiveros, last Friday, insisted that Guo should be detained in the Senate since it was the upper chamber that triggered the manhunt of the dismissed mayor.
