MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DOJ) will look into the alleged death threat of dismissed Bamban mayor Alice Guo, Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Mico Clavano IV said on Friday.

“We do not want to push that aside, we have to take that very seriously,” he said in a press briefing.

Hours before she returned to the Philippines from Indonesia, Guo sought help from Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr.

“Sec, patulong, may death threat po kasi ako,” Guo can be heard saying in the livestream video on Abalos’ Facebook page.

Abalos replied, “‘Di bale, basta importante (Never mind, what’s important is)…” The audio of the video was then cut off.

He could be heard speaking again, telling Guo, “Kaya nga kumuha na kami ng private plane dito.”

Guo arrived in Manila at 1:10 am on Friday after being apprehended by Indonesian authorities in Tangerang City, Jakarta, and detained her at Jatanras Mabes Polri on Wednesday.
