PNP to take custody of Alice Guo
MANILA, Philippines — Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo (Guo Hua Ping) will be taken into custody by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and not the Senate, the chamber’s Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) Retired Lt. Gen. Roberto Ancan confirmed to reporters on Friday.
In a text message, Ancan said Guo did not post bail for her arrest order issued by Tarlac Regional Trial Court Branch 109 for her alleged violation of Section 3 (e) and (h) of Republic Act 3019, or the Anti Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
“May commitment order sa PNP Custodial Center. [Hindi] siya nag-bail,” said Ancan. (There’s a commitment order to [the] PNP Custodial Center. She did not post bail.)
Asked whether this means that Guo will not be taken into custody by the Senate, the OSAA official answered in the affirmative.
“[R]equest na lang ng committee siguro her presence during the hearing,” Ancan added.
