MANILA, Philippines — Shiela Guo, dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo’s sister, is now under the custody of the Senate.
Shiela arrived within Senate premises at 12:29 p.m. on Monday after being detained by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Senate Secretary Renato Bantug told INQUIRER.net that Shiela immediately underwent inventory and medical checkup upon her arrival within the chamber’s premises.
Shiela is expected to appear before the chamber’s public inquiry on Tuesday that would delve deep into Alice’s escape from Philippine jurisdiction even with an existing arrest warrant and lookout order.
Shiela was with Cassandra Ong when they were brought back to the Philippines on August 22 after their arrest at Mega Mall Batam Centre, a mall in Riau, Indonesia on August 20.

Alice was not with the two at the time of their apprehension.
Ong is a lessor to a land where the raided Pampanga Philippine offshore gaming operator Lucky South 99 sits.

Both chambers of Congress have separate outstanding arrest orders against Shiela and Ong.
The Senate took custody of Shiela while the House of Representatives will detain Ong.
Earlier, NBI Director Jaime Santiago bared that Shiela is Chinese national Zhang Mier.
“There was a comparative fingerprint analysis between Shiela L Guo, ito ‘yung nasa amin, at isang Zhang Mier. Comparative fingerprint analysis shows Chinese Zhang Meir and Shiela L. Guo are one and the same person,” the NBI chief said then.
Similar to her sister Alice, Sheila is subject to an arrest order from the upper chamber for refusing to appear at the Committee on Women’s hearing on July 10.
Sheila is believed to be a co-incorporator in at least seven businesses owned by the dismissed mayor.
In addition to Alice and Sheila, arrest orders have also been issued for their family members: Wesley Leal Guo, Jian Zhong Guo, Seimen Guo, and their suspected mother Wen Yi Lin.
