British Council holding IELTS fairs in key PH cities

The British Council, the United Kingdom’s international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities, is holding a series of mini fairs on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), bringing global opportunities closer to Filipinos in key cities in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

IELTS is a widely accepted English test taken by students and professionals who want to study, work and live abroad. It is recognized by over 12,500 organizations and institutions worldwide in over 140 countries.

The fairs will bring together a diverse range of partners from the fields of education, employment and migration, allowing participants to consult with experts, meet industry professionals and network with like-minded individuals. Samantha Smith, the British Council’s regional director for exams, said participants would have an opportunity “to engage in face-to-face conversations with us and our partners about unlocking their future potential abroad.’’

Participants who register on-site can save as much as 10 percent on their IELTS test fee. Fair goers can also win free vouchers for the IELTS Ready Premium, an online course exclusively accessible for British Council test takers.

• Aug. 17, University of St. La Salle, Bacolod

• Aug. 31, Center for Premier International Language Studies, Cebu City

• Sept. 14, Roman Canadian Immigration Services, Lipa City

• Sept. 21, The Word for Everyone Ministries International Inc., Gen. Santos

• Oct. 12, Hotel Luna, Vigan, Ilocos Sur

• Oct. 13, Java Hotel, Laoag, Ilocos Norte
