EU gives P76M in aid for flood victims in Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines — The European Union (EU) has donated €1.2 million, or over P76 million, in humanitarian aid for flood victims in Mindanao.

The donation will be for food assistance, access to safe water and sanitation facilities, and other essential services.

“The beginning of this year’s monsoon and typhoon season is proving very hard for people in the Philippines, and the EU is stepping up its assistance to the most affected populations. This funding will help provide much-needed relief to people in Mindanao,” said EU Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič in a statement on Tuesday.

In February, the EU donated €500,000, or over P36 million, to flood victims in Mindanao.
