24-hr hotline launched for OFWs in Taiwan

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) recently launched a 24-hour hotline to help overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Taiwan affected by Supertyphoon “Carina” (international name: Gaemi).
The DMW said the hotline is in partnership with the Manila Economic and Cultural Office in Taiwan and is meant to monitor the 4,280 OFWs in the northern regions.

There are 2,098 OFWs in Yilan County, 821 in Keelung City and 1,361 in Hualien City. Migrant Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said despite Gaemi making a landfall in Taipei on Wednesday, there were no reported casualties among OFWs.
He added the agency is also monitoring the situation of the 1,818 OFWs in Nantou, Central Taiwan. —JACOB LAZARO
