MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court (SC) has required the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality to respond to suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo’s petition to annul the subpoena issued against her.
In her petition, Guo asked the SC to annul the subpoena issued by the Senate Committee, stop the committee from further inviting her as a resource person, and issue a restraining order while her petition is pending.

The Senate Committee is investigating the operations of the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (Pogos). Guo’s name was dragged into the controversy after the electric meter of a Pogo hub in Tarlac was found to be under her name.
Subsequently, questions regarding her nationality came up, prompting various government agencies to conduct investigations.
