Bamban Mayor Alice Guo
MANILA, Philippines — The Senate investigation will not waver even if more Alice Guos emerge in the country, Senator Risa Hontiveros said on Wednesday.
According to Hontiveros, the probe will remain focused on Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, who is being linked to illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (Pogos).
“Even if 10 more Alice Guos emerge throughout the Philippines, Mayor Alice Guo of Bamban, Tarlac remains the only Chinese citizen who became a mayor,” she said in Filipino.
“The investigation is for Alice Guo who is not Filipino,” she added.
Hontiveros has been leading the investigation as head of the Senate Committee on Women.
Her latest remarks were in response to the National Bureau of Investigation’s (NBI) revelation that there is another Alice Guo who applied for an NBI clearance in 2005.
“There is still another Alice Guo who obtained clearance in 2005. The result of the fingerprint examination will be released within the day,” NBI Director Jaime Santiago said in Filipino in a press conference.
Santiago added this Alice Guo also had the same birthday as Mayor Guo and Chinese passport holder Guo Hua Ping.
Mayor Guo and Guo Hua Ping happened to be one and the same based on their fingerprint examination conducted by the NBI.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, meanwhile, believes the NBI should also investigate the third Alice Guo “to know the authenticity of the person.”
“But this does not erase the fact that the Alice Guo who has the picture of Mayor Alice Guo has matching fingerprints with Guo Hua Ping and therefore, they are one and the same,” he added.
