MANILA, Philippines — Thailand Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa is set to undertake an official visit to the Philippines on July 4, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed on Monday.
According to DFA, it would be the first time that Sangiampongsa would visit the Philippines since he assumed office on May 3.
“During the visit, Secretary Enrique Manalo and Foreign Minister Maris will discuss bilateral areas of cooperation, including the proposed convening of the 6th Meeting of the Philippines-Thailand Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation, as well as regional and international issues of common concern, including the situation in the South China Sea, Myanmar, and Gaza,” the agency said.
The DFA also said the visit will take place in line with the Philippines and Thailand’s 75th anniversary of bilateral relations.
“The Philippines and Thailand enjoy a robust relationship and are also fellow members of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations,” it added.
