ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Ilonggos are targeting to break the Guinness world record for the largest human image of a bike now held by Moscow, Russia.

More than 5,000 cyclists were expected to join the event on July 27 at the Iloilo Business Park, said Architect Wilfredo Sy Jr., Iloilo Bike Festival director.

Sy said he was confident they could reach the target number of participants to cement the city’s title as the biking capital of the Philippines.

This is the city’s second attempt at breaking various world records. The first was for the world’s longest single line of moving bicycles but was unsuccessful due to lack of preparation, Sy said.

A month before the event, organizers planned every detail to ensure success, he said. This included conducting dry runs.

Organizers are determined to surpass the current record of 2,620 persons who joined the Moscow Cycling Festival on July 13, 2019.
