Filipino students rank poorly in Pisa 2022 report on creative thinking

MANILA, Philippines — The Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa) said the Philippines logged a mean score of 14 on the creative thinking performance of 15-year-old students.

According to the Pisa 2022 report released on June 18, the country’s score was the second-lowest among 64 ranked countries.

Aside from the Philippines, Uzbekistan also scored 14, while Albania scored 13, which was the lowest rank.

The Pisa likewise described the score of the Philippines in the report as statistically significant below the average of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) which was at 33 points.

The Pisa 2022 study assessed students’ ability to generate diverse ideas, generate creative ideas, and evaluate and improve ideas. These areas of testing are crucial in developing a well-rounded education system that prepares students for the challenges of the future.

The Pisa is a study conducted by the OECD to measure the performance of 15-year-old students in academic disciplines.

The study began in 2000 and is repeated every three years.
