MANILA, Philippines — Five Chinese and a Filipino bodyguard were arrested for their alleged involvement in the shooting of two other foreigners in Parañaque City over the weekend, police said on Monday.

In a report, the Southern Police District (SPD) identified the Chinese suspects as Deng, Peng, Liu, Cheng, and another Cheng, as well as the Filipino bodyguard as Tu.

Aside from the six, SPD said it is still tracking down two more Chinese and two Filipino suspects also linked to the shooting incident that occurred in a residential building along Roxas Boulevard in Barangay Tambo last June 15.

Based on the police investigation and CCTV footage, SPD reported that four men briefly entered the establishment and left with two others after the reported shooting of two Chinese victims with the same alias, Li.

The victims sustained gunshot wounds and are now in a hospital in Parañaque City for medical treatment.

According to police, a follow-up operation and backtracking efforts led to the arrest of the suspects in various locations in Pasay City and Clark, Pampanga.

The investigation also revealed that one of the suspects at large, identified as Bo, who was arrested in December 2022 for other criminal activities, was tagged as the mastermind behind the incident.

The six suspects were brought to the SPD forensic unit in Camp Bagong Diwa and will undergo a paraffin test, while the recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistic examination.

They will face charges for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and frustrated murder before the Parañaque Prosecutor’s Office.
