MANILA, Philippines — The Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) led 56 Philippine universities ranked by the Times Higher Education (THE) in its 2024 Impact Rankings released on Wednesday.
In the rankings, which were based on the schools’ observance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), ADMU was placed in the 201-300 bracket.
It marked its best scores in SDGs 6 (clean water and sanitation), 7 (affordable and clean energy), 16 (peace, justice, and strong institutions), and 17 (partnerships for the goals).

Meanwhile, three schools placed second in the country in the 601-800 bracket, which are listed below:
- De La Salle University
- Ifugao State University
- University of the Philippines
In addition, the following schools are the third-highest in the country and were ranked in the 601-800 bracket:
- Batangas State University
- Mariano Marcos State University
- Saint Louis University
- University of Santo Tomas
On the other hand, these are the top ten universities worldwide based on the SDGs:
- Western Sydney University
- University of Manchester, United Kingdom
- Queen’s University, Canada
- Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia
- University of Tasmania, Australia
- Arizona State University (Tempe), United States of America
- University of Alberta, Canada, and RMIT University, Australia
- Aalborg University, Denmark; University of Victoria, Canada; and Western University, Canada
- University of Auckland, New Zealand
- University of Glasgow, United Kingdom
“Not only do these institutions stand out in individual areas, but they also demonstrate comprehensive excellence in contributing to global sustainable development,” the THE said.
“By excelling in a variety of SDGs, these universities showcase their commitment to addressing the world’s most pressing challenges, including environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth and partnerships,” it added.

In the 2024 rankings, 2,152 universities from 125 regions were ranked by the THE.
