DFA chief invites Malaysian foreign minister to official PH visit

MANILA, Philippines — Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Enrique Manalo said he invited Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan for an official visit to the Philippines.

Manalo said Thursday he conveyed the invitation through phone on June 5.

“In line with 60 years of PH-MY Diplomatic Relations, I received a pleasant phone call yesterday from Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan,” the DFA chief wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“I invited him for an official visit to the Philippines this year at a mutually convenient date,” he added.

No other details were provided for the proposed official visit but Manalo said he reiterated to his Malaysian counterpart about the need to sustain their countries’ “momentum of high level exchanges” in 2023.
