BI bars 4 Americans, 1 Brit over sex raps

MANILA, Philippines — Immigration authorities recently intercepted and excluded from entry five pedophiles—four Americans and one Briton—because of their convictions of sexual offenses in their countries.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Alexander Balay, 33, was intercepted on May 21 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) from Tokyo, Japan. He was convicted of child pornography by a court in Alabama.

The next day, Vincent John Cherer, 54, was turned away at Naia after he arrived from Chengdu, China. He had been convicted of child sexual abuse in the United Kingdom.
On May 27, Wallance Lynn Wendel, 71, was also barred from entry after he arrived at Naia from Incheon, South Korea. He had been convicted of sexual assault by an Arizona court and also convicted of homicide and burglary.
On the same day, Kevin Edwin Daughtrey, 49, was turned away at Mactan-Cebu International Airport after he arrived from Taipei. He had been convicted by a Florida court of a sexual offense against a minor.
On May 28, Billy Ray Robertson Jr. was intercepted at Naia after he was found to have been convicted by a Nevada court in 1989 for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl. —Dona Z. Pazzibugan
