MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine government has denounced the recent satellite launch of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), also known as North Korea, using ballistic missile technology.
The government condemned the launch in a statement issued Friday afternoon through the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
“The Philippines condemns the DPRK’s latest satellite launch using ballistic missile technology which provokes tensions and undermines economic progress, peace, and stability in the Korean Peninsula and in the Indo-Pacific region,” said DFA.

“The Philippines has repeatedly called on the DPRK to comply with its international obligations under relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and to commit to constructive and peaceful dialogue with the Republic of Korea,” it added.

The DFA noted that the Philippine government has consistently supported the call for a “complete, verifiable, and irreversible” denuclearization of DPRK.
International news reports, citing South Korea’s military, said North Korea on Thursday fired suspected ballistic missiles toward its eastern sea. The move came after its failed attempt to launch a “spy satellite into orbit.
