MANILA, Philippines — All 13 Filipino crew members onboard a vessel attacked by Houthi rebels on May 28 are safe, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed.
In an advisory issued Wednesday, DMW said the vessel was traversing the Yemeni coast near Hodeidah when missiles were launched by Houthi rebels.
The vessel, identified as a bulk carrier, sustained damage from the attack.

“The vessel is continuing its voyage to its next port of call,” said DMW.
“The DMW is communicating with the shipping and manning agencies, monitoring the safety and condition of our Filipino seafarers. The DMW is also contacting the crew members’ families to provide any assistance they may need,” it added.

According to DMW, the ship’s manning agency has likewise informed the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration of the incident.
Apart from the 13 Filipino seamen, one Ukrainian crew member is also onboard the vessel. The Ukrainian national is also safe and unhurt, said the agency.
