MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said it has not received a report about any Filipino affected by severe flooding in Indonesia as of Monday, May 13.
The DMW said it is closely monitoring the impact of the deadly flood and mudslide in West Sumatra over the weekend on Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and Filipino communities through its Migrant Workers Office in Singapore (MWO-SG), which is working with the Philippine embassy in Jakarta.
“The Philippine Embassy in Jakarta has yet to receive reports that OFWs or Filipino nationals were harmed or injured,” the agency said in a statement Monday.
The latest count showed that flash floods and cold lava flow from a volcano in Mount Marapi, the most active volcano on Sumatra island, has killed 41 people while 17 remain missing, according to a report of the Agence France-Presse on Monday.
