DMW offices on high alert after twin 5.9 quakes in Taiwan
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said its migrant workers offices (MWOs) in Taiwan were placed on high alert after the island was struck by twin 5.9 quakes late Monday.
In advisory, DMW the quakes occurred “within minutes of each other.”
Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration reported the first quake at 5:45 p.m. while the second followed seven minutes later at 5:52 p.m.

“There are no immediate reports of injuries among overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), but MWOs in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung are reaching out to Filipino leaders, communities, employers, and trade associations to ascertain the status of OFWs,” said DMW.
