MANILA, Philippines — A couple who are both Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in Hong Kong were injured during a landslide caused by a heavy rainstorm on Saturday.

In a statement on Sunday, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said it is closely monitoring the condition of the couple who were working in a resort in Sai Kung, New Territories.

The two were reportedly taking photos and videos of the storm’s damage to a facility when the landslide occurred.

“Both were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment,” DMW disclosed.

“The wife sustained head injuries but is in stable condition. She remains in hospital for further observation, while her husband suffered leg injuries and is currently undergoing an operation,” it said.

DMW also noted its Migrant Workers Office and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration office in Hong Kong have already given the victims initial financial assistance.
