Aquino arrives in Bangkok for state visit
BANGKOK, Thailand—President Aquino and his 53-member delegation arrived here past noon Thursday for a two-day state visit to strengthen the Philippines’ relations with Thailand and promote his administration’s Public-Private Partnership program among Thai investors.
Together with key members of his economic team, Aquino arrived at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport around 1 p.m. aboard Philippine Airlines flight PR 730.
The Philippine delegation was welcomed by senior Thai government officials led by Deputy Prime Minister Trairong Suwannakhir.
The President and his party immediately proceeded to the posh Shangri-la Hotel where he was to meet with executives of three major Thai companies.
Aquino was to meet with Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva later in the day and attend a state banquet in his honor in the evening at the Government House.
