MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Wednesday that it has arrested a Chinese national for alleged involvement in cyber fraud.

According to the BI, Qin Xingye, 28, was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on April 28.

Qin tried to board a flight to Hong Kong.

The BI said that immigration officers saw that Qin had a hit at the BI’s clearance check at the immigration counter for being an undesirable alien and for illegally working in the Philippines.

“He was referred by the immigration officer to his supervisors who verified his identity and later confirmed that the passenger and the person in the bureau’s derogatory list are one and the same,” BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said.Qin is detained at the BI’s facility in Taguig City pending his deportation.
