PH, Qatar sign accords to stop human trafficking, discuss climate change

MANILA, Philippines — The governments of the Philippines and Qatar finalized on Monday nine agreements in different fields, from combating human trafficking to climate change cooperation.
Following a bilateral meeting in Malacañang, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Qatar Amir Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani oversaw the following exchange of agreements:
Agreement between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the State of Qatar on the waiver of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and special or official passports
Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the State of Qatar on cooperation in the field of sports
Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the State of Qatar on cooperation for the youth
Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the State of Qatar on cooperation in combating human trafficking
Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the State of Qatar on technical cooperation and capacity-building on climate change
Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the State of Qatar in the field of tourism and business events
Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the State of Qatar on mutual recognition of seafarers’ certificates
Memorandum of Understanding between the Philippines Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Memorandum of Understanding between the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Marcos’ cabinet secretaries exchanged the agreements pertinent to their sectors with their Qatari counterparts.
Sheik Tamim is in the Philippines from Sunday to Monday for a state visit upon Marcos’ invitation.
