MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. welcomed the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Malacañang on Monday.
Sheik Tamim arrived in the Philippines on Sunday for a two-day state visit upon the President’s invitation.

The Qatari Emir was given arrival honors in the Palace, where he and Marcos will hold a bilateral meeting.
In attendance at the ceremony were Sheik Tamim’s ministers, as well as several of Marcos’ cabinet officials – Executive Lucas Bersamin, Transport Secretary Jaime Bautista, Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo, Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual, and more.
According to a Palace statement last Sunday, Marcos and Sheik Tamim are expected to discuss regional issues and bilateral relations.
The Philippines and Qatar are cooperating in areas of labor, climate change, trade and investments, energy, education, youth and sports, and more.
