MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Saturday that a Chinese national wanted in China was arrested in the country for alleged involvement in financial fraud.
According to the BI, Qiu Jiajian, 52 years old, was arrested on April 15 in Binondo, Manila.

Chinese authorities said that Qiu used falsified special value-added tax invoices along with other tax-related violations.
BI Fugitive Search Unit Acting Chief Rendel Sy added that the Licheng sub-bureau of the Quanzhou public security bureau issued an arrest warrant against Qiu.
On top of his pending cases in China, Qiu was also found to be an overstaying and undocumented alien as his passport expired in September 2023.

He will likewise be blacklisted and will not be allowed to enter the Philippines, the BI added.
Qiu was sent to the BI’s facility in Taguig until his deportation.
