MANILA, Philippines — The Czech Republic will increase its demand for Filipino workers, doubling its quota from 5,000 to 10,000 workers.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs -Office of European Affairs Asec. Maria Elena Algabre, the quota raise will take effect this May 2024.
“The Czech Republic has expressed its interest to encourage more Filipinos to participate in the labor market. In fact, they have announced a yearly quota for Filipinos starting this May, of 10,000 Filipinos who may enter the Czech Republic for work,” said Algabre in a Palace briefing on Friday.
Algabre said that these jobs are both skilled and professional in nature.

When asked why there is a high demand of Filipino workers in the Czech Republic, Algabre said that the work ethic, talent and skills of Filipinos are in demand.
She also attributed the demand to a declining European population.
“Europe has a problem with its population, a lot of them have a shortage in their working population,” said Algabre.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to travel to Germany and the Czech Republic from March 11 to March 15. During the trip, Marcos will talk to different business leaders and meet the Filipino community in both countries.
