MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine government has reiterated its support for the Ukrainian government amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
In a statement on Saturday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) also highlighted the need for “comprehensive, just and lasting peace” in Ukraine in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter.

“The Philippines has articulated its principled position on Ukraine and has consistently supported Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity, voting in favor of the six (6) resolutions of the UN General Assembly Emergency Special Session on Ukraine,” the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a statement on the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
It has also echoed its call to the Russian and Ukrainian governments to seek a peaceful and diplomatic resolution to their conflict.
The DFA also cited the 1982 Manila Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of International Disputes, which reaffirms that all states shall settle their conflicts by peaceful means.
