Marcos adamant: No ICC probe into PH war on drugs
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday said there is no chance for him to change his mind when it comes to allowing the International Criminal Court (ICC) to conduct a probe into the country’s war on drugs.
“It opens a Pandora’s box. It’s still those questions of jurisdiction and sovereignty. I haven’t yet seen a sufficient answer for it. Until then, I do not recognize their jurisdiction in the Philippines,” said Marcos in an ambush interview in Manila.
Asked if he could ever change his mind based on evidence, Marcos said no.
“No. It’s not about the evidence. It’s about the jurisdiction of the ICC in the Philippines. They could produce as much evidence as they want. But they could not act upon it in the Philippines, that is the point,” said Marcos.
