MANILA, Philippines — In 2024, the Philippines hopes to extend its reach and forge effective foreign partnerships for inclusive development, Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo said on Thursday.

Speaking at the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines (FOCAP) media forum, Manalo identified the scope of the partnerships that the country aims to establish.

“This year, the Philippines will forge effective partnerships that coalesce around building climate, disaster, and biodiversity resilience and fit-for-purpose solutions for inclusive development,” said Manalo.

“He called for actions to solve inequality and inequities, solutions to the climate emergency, and regulation in response to the weaponization of new technologies,” said Manalo.

“Most saliently, he affirmed the rule of law at the center of an international order based on the principles of justice and equity, the ballast that steadies our common vessel,” he added.
