In the Philippines, the aftermath of climate crises have left the country in dire need of concrete change to mitigate these calamities and its long term impact on the lives of Filipinos. Environmental degradation, flash floods, landslides, and other natural disasters calls for us to take climate action seriously — each effort no matter how small helps and that habit can start early for kids in school.
With this stride towards environmental consciousness, the Breeze EcoProject heads this initiative to foster awareness on environmental protection at a young age. In its third year, the Breeze EcoProject has mobilized more than 130,000 students to join them on this mission.
In this joint project with the Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) and the Schools Division Offices of Marikina City, Taguig City and Pateros (TAPAT) and Quezon City, Breeze empowers students through various activities, including educational videos and eco-missions. From the initial 8,058 students during Year 1 of Breeze EcoProject, they have expanded to more than 10x in reach.
Recognizing that educators play a pivotal role in shaping future generations, Breeze EcoProject conducted special training for teachers. Through these workshops, teachers are equipped to guide their students in their journey to becoming more eco-friendly.
Among the highlights of this program are the student-centered activities that set up kids to build good environmental habits like recycling, reducing waste, and gardening. In Ecollect, all grade levels participate in collection drives for plastic waste materials.
Students also get to exercise their creativity in the Eco Planter and Eco Christmas Corner contests, where they’re challenged to use recyclable materials in their projects. The colorful and imaginative entries showcased not just artistic flair but a deep understanding of sustainable practices.
Breeze EcoProject’s Eco Garden contest also calls for schools to fill their campus with green with their own garden.
The Breeze EcoProject is sowing the seeds for a sustainable future, one school at a time. With each contest, workshop, and celebration, Breeze EcoProject equips the youth with the proper tools and knowledge to take care of their environment.
