MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. arrived in Vietnam on Monday afternoon for his state visit.
Marcos’ plane touched down in Vietnam at 3:05 p.m. local time.

The President is set to speak with Vietnamese President Võ Văn Thưởng, wherein they will discuss possible areas of collaboration in defense, security, education, and more.
Marcos may also sign various agreements in Vietnam, ranging from defense and rice trade deals.

“I will also meet with the business sector to explore how we can further strengthen trade and investment between the Philippines and Vietnam. I strongly believe that we have a vast array of opportunities, especially in a post-pandemic world,” said Marcos in his pre-departure speech in Villamor Airbase, Pasay City.
Marcos will also meet with the Filipino community in Vietnam.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, there are 7,000 Filipinos residing in Vietnam.
