Ave Regina Pacis: Antipolo Cathedral celebrates Solemn Declaration as the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage
The Antipolo Cathedral is set to celebrate its Solemn Declaration as the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage on January 26, 2024.
Through the petition of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines last July 2021, the cathedral was elevated to international shrine status after the papal decree was released on March 13, 2023. It consequently took effect on March 25 of the same year to coincide with the Solemnity of the Annunciation.
The decree makes the Antipolo Cathedral the first international shrine in the Philippines, and only eleventh in the world. It is likewise the first Marian international shrine in region.
On January 26, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be led by Most Reverend Charles John Brown, D.D., Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, together with the Most Reverend Archbishops and Bishops of the Philippines.
