The United Nations General Assembly recently adopted by consensus a resolution sponsored by the Philippines and Pakistan to promote interreligious and intercultural dialogue.

The resolution on “Promotion of interreligious and intercultural dialogue, understanding and cooperation for peace,” passed on Dec. 18, aims to strengthen mechanisms and actions for promotion of a genuine and constructive dialogue across the cultural and religious divide, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The resolution also calls on member states and political and religious leaders to promote inclusion and unity to combat racism, xenophobia, hate speech, violence, and discrimination.
