Bongbong Marcos starts journey back to PH from weeklong US trip

Bongbong Marcos starts the journey back to the Philippines from his weeklong US trip

HONOLULU, Hawaii — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is going back to the Philippines late Sunday afternoon (local time), ending his weeklong trip to the United States.

Chartered flight PR001, which carried the President and the Philippine delegation, left Hickam Air Force Base here past 5 p.m. on Sunday. Travel time from Hawaii to the Philippines is around nine hours. Marcos is expected to arrive in Manila at about 8 p.m. on Monday (Philippine time).

The Palace said Marcos will be bringing home $672 million worth of investment pledges from his third trip to the US as the country’s chief executive.

Marcos first landed in San Francisco a few days ago to attend the 2023 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Leaders’ Summit. He also went to Los Angeles for a working visit while in the US.

Marcos likewise held meetings with Vice President Kamala Harris and Chinese President Xi Jinping, among others, on the sidelines of the Apec Summit.

The last stop in his weeklong US trip is Hawaii where he visited the US Indo-Pacific Command Headquarters and participated in roundtable discussions at the Daniel Inouye Asia Pacific for Security Studies.
