MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Thursday said the four Filipino workers who were injured following a missile attack on a Liberian-flagged ship near Odesa, Ukraine are “all out of danger.”
DMW Officer-in-Charge Hans Cacdac said the four Filipino seafarers – the ship’s captain, able seaman, deck cadet, and electrician, were at the bridge of the ship when the missile hit.
“Thankfully, they were far enough from the point of impact and suffered non-fatal injuries. They are all out of danger,” Cacdac said in a statement.
Cacdac added all of the Filipino seafarers sustained minor injuries and are now receiving medical attention on board.
“As soon as we received the report of the incident, we instructed their manning agency and ship owner to determine what else can be done for them,” Cacdac said.
The Department of Foreign Affairs, in a separate statement on Thursday, said they are coordinating with the DMW regarding the incident.
