Japanese Prime Minister Kishida arrives in PH for high-stakes talks

MANILA, Philippines — Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida received arrival honors in Malacañang on Friday.

Kishida flew in on Friday afternoon and his plane taxied to Ages Hangar upon landing at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The Japanese head of state proceeded to attend a wreath-laying ceremony at Rizal Monument in Manila.

Afterwards, he went to the Palace Reception Hall, where Kishida signed the guest book.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. welcomed the Japanese leader.

The President and the Prime Minister will have a meeting.

Marcos and Kishida are expected to talk about matters concerning West Philippine Sea, where tensions between Philippines and China had been escalating.
