MANILA, Philippines — Returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Israel will receive cash assistance as well as other benefits from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
“We are prepared to provide all the necessary assistance and support services for our kababayans (countrymen) who opted to return voluntarily and flee the violence as a result of the Israel-Hamas conflict,” DMW officer-in-charge undersecretary Hans Cacdac said.
Cacdac made the statement as a second group of 18 OFWs arrived from Israel on Friday afternoon, comprising 14 caregivers and four caretakers.
The DMW said that the returning OFWs will receive P50,000 each from the DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), as well as skills training and financial assistance from the Technical Education And Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
They will also receive a physical and mental examination from the Department of Health and the Department of Social Welfare and Development. The children of the OFWs will also receive commensurate financial assistance from the DSWD.
Last Wednesday, 16 OFWs arrived from Israel as the first batch of repatriates amid the Israel-Hamas war.
