Saudi Arabian business leaders express interest in Maharlika Investment Fund

Bongbong Marcos seeks Saudi Arabia expertise to manage Maharlika fund

MANILA, Philippines — Saudi Arabian business leaders have expressed their interest in the Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF), according to the Palace on Friday.

The MIF was met with warm responses from the business leaders, the Palace said.

“I am pleased that we are joined today by leaders and the sector from Saudi Arabia who are eager to learn more about the investment, opportunities and one of ASEAN’s most exciting markets and learn more about the newly-launched Maharlika Investment Fund that you have launched under your administration,” Saudi Ministry of Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih said.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is in Saudi Arabia for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations-Gulf Cooperation Council (Asean-GCC) Summit, where he met with business leaders from the country.

“At the forefront of these opportunities is the recently launched Maharlika Investment Fund, the Philippines’ first-ever sovereign investment fund designed to drive long-term economic development through increased investments in high-impact sectors,” Marcos said during their discussion.

“We look forward to benefiting not just from Saudi investments, but also from the Kingdom’s extensive experience in managing such funds,” the President said.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez, who is part of the Philippine delegation to Saudi Arabia, also expressed his enthusiasm that MIF was presented to the leaders of the country.

“This invitation represents an exciting opportunity for our nation, and I believe it will receive a positive response from the Saudi business community,” said Romualdez during the business meeting.

Included in the meeting was Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno and Trade and Industry Chief Alfredo Pascual.
