PH consulate in Milan continues to assist Filipino fraud victims

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine consulate in Milan is still assisting Filipinos who have been victimized by fraud and illegal recruitment in Italy.

This was disclosed by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday.

“The consulate continues to assist Filipinos who have filed complaints against Alpha Assistenzia. As of October 3, there are 60 complainants who have requested the Consulate’s assistance,” Foreign affairs spokesperson Teresita Daza told reporters in a text message.

“This brings to 221 the number of individuals who paid as much as €3,000.00 (around P178,537) for jobs in Italy,” she added.

According to Daza, the consulate also continues to investigate other cases of fraud being committed by Filipinos against fellow Filipinos.

These cases of fraud involve provision of work permit conversions, citizenship applications, as well as airline tickets.

DFA Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Eduardo de Vega earlier bared that all Filipinos who have been victimized by this scheme will receive legal assistance from the Philippine government.
