MANILA, Philippines — Department of Foreign Affairs will wait for the result of the ongoing investigation on the deaths of three Filipino fishermen off Bajo de Masinloc, also known as Scarborough Shoal.
This is before the department issues a statement on the incident.
Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Teresita Daza expressed the stand of DFA pertaining to the deaths of the Filipino fishermen whose boat, FFB Dearyn, was rammed by an unidentified vessel.
“Out of respect for the bereaved families, we consider it prudent to wait for the results of the investigation before making any further statements in this regard,” Daza told INQUIRER.net in a text message on Wednesday.
According to her, Philippine Coast Guard is now conducting a thorough investigation to identify the vessel responsible for the tragedy.
“We wish to extend our deepest condolences to the families of our fisherfolk who perished in this tragic event at sea,” she said.
