PH halal products generate $3.15 million in sales at Malaysia trade fair
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine delegation to the 2023 Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) generated $3.15 million in sales of the premium-quality products it displayed there to an international audience.
The event took place from Sept. 12 to 15 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Under the banner HALAL Philippines, Filipino exporters representing 17 Philippine companies showcased a diverse range of halal products — including food and beverages, cosmetics, and personal care items.
“We are proud to represent the Philippines at MIHAS 2023 and showcase our high-quality Halal products to a global audience. This event aligns perfectly with our goals to promote the growth of Halal trade and strengthen our position in the international market,” said Philippine Embassy Charge d’affaires Leandro Luis Manantan.
Bianca Sykimte, director of the Export Marketing Bureau of the Department of Trade and Industry, called the success at MIHAS a significant step in increasing global awareness of halal Philippine products through trade promotion, in accordance with the Philippine Export Development Plan (PEDP) 2023-2028 and the Philippine Halal Export Development and Promotion Program.
