MANILA, Philippines — A crowd of Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) welcomed and swarmed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Sunday after he made a surprise appearance at a mall in Singapore as part of his official visit to the country.
According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Marcos arrived at the Lucky Plaza Mall, a popular shopping center for Filipinos along Orchard Road, around noon to greet OFWs.
As seen in a video uploaded on the President’s official Facebook page, migrant workers flocked to Marcos as he tried to greet them.
Marcos is in Singapore for the 10th Asian Conference and was invited by Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to attend the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix 2023.
PCO said the chief executive also met with officials of India’s GMR, who said they are willing to invest in the Philippines’ airports, roads, and energy projects.
It added that Dyson, Singapore’s multinational technology company, has committed P11 billion worth of investment for the country in the next two years.
