PH ready to host Asean Summit in 2026, says Bongbong Marcos

The Philippines is ready to host the 2026 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit in 2026, said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday.

JAKARTA, Indonesia — The Philippines is ready to host the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit in 2026, said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday.

During the 43rd Asean Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia, Marcos addressed fellow regional leaders and assured them that the Philippines is ready.

“It is my pleasure to announce that the Philippines is ready to take the helm and chair Asean in 2026,” Marcos told leaders.

Marcos said that the Philippines will strive to strengthen the Asean community.

“We will fortify the foundations of our community-building and navigate Asean as it embarks on a new chapter,” said the President.

“We will count on the support of fellow member states and continue to work with our partners to strengthen Asean Centrality and to promote peace, security, stability, and prosperity in the region,” said Marcos.

Marcos is attending the Asean Summit in Indonesia from September 5 to 7, vowing to advance the interests of the Philippines.
