KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was welcomed at Istana Negara or National Palace on Wednesday as part of his three-day state visit to Malaysia that began Tuesday, July 25.
Marcos was received along with his wife, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, at 11 a.m. They were greeted by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and the Queen Mother, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
Marcos left the Philippines – via Villamor Airbase in Pasay City – for Kuala Lumpur on July 25 for the state visit until Thursday, July 27.

Aside from the First Lady, Marcos was accompanied by his Cabinet members, which includes Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Enrique Manalo on this trip.
DFA spokesperson Teresita Daza earlier said that the President and his wife were invited by the King of Malaysia to undertake the state visit to the country.
Marcos, in his departure speech on Tuesday, said he planned to explore the halal industry and Islamic banking during his state visit to Malaysia.

Marcos is expected to hold talks on possible bilateral trade investment opportunities with Malaysian business leaders during the trip.
