She said Chinese Embassy in the Indian Ocean had already contacted local authorities to call for an investigation.

A member of the Ritz-Carlton’s marketing team, who requested anonymity, confirmed to SCMP that a police probe into the incident has begun.

The resort declined to provide further details.

In her Twitter thread, the victim said the assault and rape happened on June 11 when the hotel sent her alleged attacker to her room to lend her a mobile phone.

The victim lamented hotel authorities “made it look like nothing” when she had reported the crime to them.

This prompted her to request the help of local police.

She also claimed Ritz-Carlton staff had removed evidence from the room before investigators arrived.

“I was raped in your hotel, and you did nothing. You told me I did this to get a free stay. I paid the full amount to the hotel,” said the victim in her thread.

Medical exam laboratory slips and a photo of the alleged attacker were included in her Twitter thread to substantiate her claims.

Since returning to her home in Australia, the victim maintained Ritz-Carlton had not responded to her.

“It’s worrying that RC seems to be attempting to cover up the rape incident at their property,” said the victim.
