MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his entourage has arrived in the United Kingdom to attend the coronation of King Charles III.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said Marcos was welcomed by King Charles III’s representative.

“Dumating na sa United Kingdom si Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. para dumalo sa koronasyon nina King Charles III at Queen Consort Camilla,” it said.

(The President has arrived in the United Kingdom to attend the coronation of King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla.)

“Sinalubong si PBBM ng representante ni King Charles III upang bigyan ng mainit na pagtanggap sa bansa,” the PCO added.

(The President was warmly welcomed by the representative of King Charles III.)

The PCO said that while Marcos was at Gatwick Airport in London, he spoke with airport officials and toured the facility known to be the second busiest airport in the world.

“Ito ay para makakalap ng mga ideya sa pagpapabuti ng operasyon ng mga airport sa Pilipinas,” it said.

(This is for the President to get an idea how to improve the airports in the Philippines.)

Marcos earlier said he will meet with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on the sidelines of the coronation.

In a separate Twitter post, Marcos said he was honored to have been greeted by a representative of the royal court upon their arrival in the UK.

“We made the most of our time at Gatwick Airport, meeting with its executives and taking a comprehensive tour. We gathered valuable insights to improve Philippine airports and boost tourism at home,” he said.

Before flying to London, Marcos concluded his official visit to the United States. His trip to London is his 12th overseas trip in less than a year since he assumed office.
