Ukraine foreign minister to visit PH by June or July

MANILA, Philippines — Ukraine Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba will visit the Philippines in June or July this year.

Ukraine Embassy in Malaysia Counsellor Denys Mykhailiuk announced the planned visit on Wednesday.

“We are looking also to have a visit of our minister later this year,” Mykhailiuk said in a press conference in Makati.

When asked when the visit would be, he replied: I’m talking summer in the calendar terms, so, June, July.”

Embassy in PH

Ukraine is likewise considering establishing an embassy in the Philippines within the year.

Mykhailiuk, however, said that creating an embassy in Manila will depend on their financial capacity.

“The only obstacle is the budget restrictions. You know we have enormous and unexpected spendings this year. Majority of them are going to the defense,” he said.

“We do hope that it will be happening before the end of this year,” the counselor added.

Mykhailiuk is in Manila for a four-day visit. He talked to officials of government agencies, including the Department of Foreign Affairs and Department of National Defense.
