MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. welcomed Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim in a ceremony at the Malacañan Palace on Wednesday.
Ibrahim Anwar arrived at the Kalayaan Grounds with his wife, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail at around 4 p.m. and was received by Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and several Cabinet members.
The Malaysian Prime Minister is in the Philippines for a two-day official visit.
The two leaders are set to hold a bilateral meeting to discuss areas of mutual concern such as political, security, and economic cooperation, as well as people-to-people ties.
They are also expected to exchange views on regional and international issues, according to the Presidential Communications Office.
Marcos will then host a dinner banquet in honor of Malaysia’s Prime Minister.
While in the Philippines, Anwar is set to give a lecture at the University of the Philippines about the years following the Asian Renaissance and meet with members of the Malaysian community in Manila.
