MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Malaysia Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim will discuss areas of cooperation between the two nations during their bilateral meeting on March 1, Malacañang said Tuesday.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is set to make an official visit to the Philippines on March 1 to 2, in which he is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Marcos.
“The two leaders will hold a bilateral meeting to discuss areas of mutual concern such as political, security, and economic cooperation, as well as people-to-people ties,” the PCO said in a statement.
“They are also expected to exchange views on regional and international issues,” it added.
The President will then hold a dinner banquet in honor of the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia, is the first head of government to visit the Philippines under Marcos Jr.’s administration.
Anwar Ibrahim, a long-time opposition leader, was appointed by Malaysia’s king as prime minister in November last year.
